Thalassemia

My baby might have a rare blood disorder called thalassemia. It might be a mild kind or a major kind. I pray that she does not have it at all or that she might just be a carrier. If she is a carrier then she will have to get her husband tested when she gets married to make sure she does not pass it onto her kids, which could pass away in utero. This diagnosis might explain my many miscarriages and my 1 stillbirth. If she has a more major kind, she may need blood transfusions every 2-3 weeks. Unfortunately I will not find out anything anytime soon. She has a test at 6 months to see if her red blood cells are still small, if they are we go from there with a test for the thalassemia at 1. The major symptoms do not usually set in until babies are 1 or 2. This might have explained her anemia at birth. Her anemia is all but gone now and I pray it stays that way. If it does then she may never need a blood transfusion. We will see.....
