We were given a gift certificate to a nursery to buy a tree in remembrance of Jeremiah 5 years ago when he died. We got a tree when we moved into our house down here (as we were living with my in-laws when he died) and planted it. It is a beautiful ash tree. It has done so well over the years; however, we got a puppy who loves the bark on trees. He has torn down our lemon tree. At first he tore off the bark, then the branches and lemons, and then it was a stub in the ground so we decided to take it out. Now he is attacking my Jeremiah tree. This is not the first time he has done this. He did this last year at the bottom and it miraculously survived. This year he tore off so much bark that I don't know if it will survive. This tree is basically starving to death like Jeremiah did with his umbilical cord. It is so sad to see another life taken by starvation; however, I do think Jeremiah is looking after it. Ashes do not grow well on their own, so they have to be grafted into a different tree trunk. The original tree is now sprouting up leaves in hopes to help the tree survive. I truly think God and Jeremiah are looking down on this tree and helping it in anyway it can be helped. I hope so badly that the dog does not do anymore damage. I love this tree as a symbol of his life. It means so much to me. Anyway I took pictures of the dog and the tree. They are below.

The black one is the culprit. The other one is sweet and does not do much of anything.
My beautiful tree.
A closer look at it.
And a real close-up.
It is really sad. Everywhere I read said that if it is 100% all the way around it good luck it is going to die. At the very bottom of the last picture you can see a little bit of green. That is the other tree trying to sprout up from the bottom of the trunk. There are about 6 more sprouts now and they are growing more and more each day. I am crossing my fingers and praying that this is what will help save this tree.
